Congratulations on 50th anniversary

Bob and Astrid Meggison celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June at Keeley the Katerer in Portland.

They were married on June 2, 1956.

The party was given by their daughters, Julie and Charles Rieder of Ramona, Calif., and Cindy and Timothy Ouellette and grandchildren Alex, Shaun and Ionela of Derry, N.H.; and son Bill and Micki Meggison of Gorham.

Cindy Ouellette said the group dined on a “spectacular” buffet as well as cake and ice cream. Ouellette and her daughter, Ionela, made the candy favors.

Photographs were on display, celebrating the couple’s 50 years together. Family members and guests signed a linen tablecloth, commemorating the occasion.

Rabbi Sky to speak

Rabbi Harry Z. Sky will speak at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 1, at the Universalist Church of Westbrook, 719 Main St.

The theme of the service is “Bring a friend to church.” Sky, rabbi emeritus at Temple Beth El in Portland, is a public speaker, educator and author.

The church is hosting a bean supper on Saturday, Sept. 29.

Post 62 to meet, dine

Members of the Stephen W. Manchester Post 62 of the American Legion will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at its headquarters at 17 Dunn St.

Marie Carroll, secretary, said a catered dinner at 6 p.m. would precede the business meeting.

Goulet to entertain seniors

David Goulet will entertain when Westbrook Senior Citizens meet at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 5, at Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church, 810 Main St.

Goulet is music director at St. Patrick’s Church in Portland.

Antique bike program

Zip and Carol Zamarchi will present a program about their antique bicycle collection when the Westbrook Historical Society meets at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 17B Dunn St.

They will have a display, and people are encouraged to bring along antique bicycle photos or equipment to show.

The program is free and the public is welcome.

Gardeners harvest fair

The Prides Corner Garden Club will host its annual harvest fair on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 235 Pride St.

Items will include plants, flowers, pumpkins, squash, cornstalks, gourds, cooked goodies and white elephant items. The fair will be held rain or shine.

Disability RMS honored

Disability RMS in Westbrook has been named one of the best places to work in Maine by the Best Companies Group (BCG), which was formed to identify and recognize companies nationwide that stand out in workplace excellence.
