Wilder in missile training
U.S. Army Pvt. Caleb S. Wilder is training as a Patriot missile-launching operator in Advanced Individual Training at Fort Bliss, Texas.
Wilder graduated from boot camp on Aug. 18 at Fort Sill, Ok. He reported for duty in June following graduation at Westbrook High School.
He is expected to be home for two weeks’ leave in November before shipping overseas.
Congratulations on 50th
Pete and Mary Profenno recently went to New York City to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
He said they stayed in a suite at the Marriott Hotel in Times Square and attended three Broadway shows.
“We had a great time,” he said.
Profenno owns Profenno’s Pizzeria and Profenno’s Bar & Grill in downtown Westbrook.
WHS class of ’42 reunites
The Westbrook High School class of 1942 met at Newick’s Seafood Restaurant in South Portland on Sept. 7.
Those attending were Virginia (Robertson) Christiansen, Marjorie (Edwards) Dyer, Arolyn (Hawkes) Fish, Rita (Girard) Levesque, Shirley (Libby) Davis and her husband, Richard; Jean (Sawyer) Lefebvre and her husband, Edward; Philip Gouzie and his wife, Grace; Imelda (Rousseau) Bard; Lucille (Lauzon) Harnois; Florence (Pride) Hawkes; and Harold Lewis and his wife, Marily.
“A beautiful cake was enjoyed by all,” said Margorie Dyer.
After lunch, they planned for their 65th reunion next year.
Lamond to speak
The Rev. Larry T. Lamond will be in the pulpit at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24, at the Universalist Church of Westbrook, 719 Main St.
Rabbi Harry Z. Sky will be the guest speaker on Sunday, Oct. 1.
Eagles plan Christmas fair
Westbrook Eagles are planning a Christmas fair on Oct. 28 at its headquarters, 89 Saco St., Westbrook.

Summer over
Pat Larrabee is reminding the public that now summer is over, Walker Memorial Library, 800 Main St., will be continuing its story hour each Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. She said children of all ages are invited.
Larrabee, children’s librarian, said stories are read, a short movie appropriate for preschoolers is shown and coloring pages are available. “There is a large play area for children, parents and caregivers to enjoy,” Larrabee said.
Crafts for children about ages 5 and up will begin on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 1:30 p.m., featuring an apple merry-go-round. “You need not be a member of the library to attend the programs,” she said.
