FOOTBALL

Coach: Matt Perkins, 5th season

Fall 2005 record: 2-6

Key veterans: Raibonne Charles, Travis Cook, Chris Darling, Nick Kimball, Sam Nappi, Mike Secord, Josh Sundquist, Dan Swett, Nate Johnson, Dan Williams.

Key concerns: Injures. If we can stay healthy, we can beat anybody in the state.

Coach’s outlook: We have the ability to hit the home run ball this year but we can also finesse you by throwing the ball around the field. I don’t think we’ve had that ability before to this extent. It’s a tough league, so we’ll have our work cut out for us.

Key newcomers: Girls: Bethany Dudley; Boys: Ciaran Shaughnessy, Cole Larrivee, Shawn Pennels, Kevin Alling, Justin Terry, Ben Algeo, Nick Difiore

Coach’s outlook: I’m excited. It’s nice to have good numbers on the boys side. I’m not trying to measure against a Deering or a Scarborough. But these guys know that for the first time they can go to a meet and be competitive. For the girls, we’re led by Kayla Phinney (a top twenty finisher at the state meet last year and one of those slowed by an injury this season). She is one of the most coachable athletes I’ve had, but she will need to be patient so she can be in top form in October.

Key newcomers: Matt Coughlin, Richard Getchell, Cameron Audet, Donald Hegerty, A.J. Olsen.

Key concern: Lack of experience

Coach’s outlook: I was please to have so many freshmen come out and I’m already seeing signs of improvement. I’m hoping we can win a match or two this year and build for the future.
