The September/October newsletter from Standish Recreation Department outlines a full schedule of fall activities for senior citizens.

Standish Recreation Senior Citizen Sub-Committee meets on the last Monday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Standish Municipal Center. The next meeting will be on Sept. 25. Anyone is welcome to attend and make suggestions.
Following are the activities of interest to seniors, planned for September and October.
Bowling – Join a group of seniors who meet at 10 a.m. on Monday and Friday at Strike and Spare in Kezar Falls, starting Sept. 11. FMI call Priscilla Fecteau, 675-3092.
Nordic Walking – Beginning Sept. 9, Saturday mornings at 8 a.m., Johnson Field, Sebago Lake Village. Poles (limited sizes) provided.
Bean Supper – Standish Recreation Senior Citizen Committee benefit, Saturday, Sept. 23, 5-7 p.m. at the Steep Falls Fire Barn. Adults, $6; children and seniors, $4. Menu includes homemade beans, franks, cole slaw, American Chop Suey, desserts and beverages. FMI 642-2875.
Area Meal Site: Active Senior Citizens of Standish, beginning Sept. 13, on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday at Steep Falls Fire Barn on the Boundary Road. Meals are $3. Reservations by 9:30 a.m. the Monday prior to that week’s luncheon. Call Alvida Fogg, 642-4929 or June Frost 727-6215. Events include blood pressure checks on Sept. 13, Deputy Paul Pettingill on Sept. 27, bagpipe demonstration on Oct. 11 and Halloween party (with prizes for costumes) on Oct. 25.
Friday luncheons are sponsored on the 3rd Friday each month by Southern Maine Agency on Aging at the Sebago Lake Congregational Church. Meals are $4. FMI call 1-800-400-6325.
Book Club – The Book Club at Steep Falls Library meets the 2nd Wednesday each month at 11 a.m. Bring a brown bag lunch. FMI call Wim Schimmer, 675-3147. The library is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. Their phone is 675-3132.
Acrylic Painting – If interested in a class in Acrylic Painting, call the Recreation Office, 642-2875.
Watercolor Classes – Steep Falls Fire Barn, 12:45-2:45 pm at the Steep Falls Fire Barn, starting Sept. 13. Fee is $3 per person.
Line Dancing – Every other Tuesday starting Sept. 12. Call the Recreation Department at 642-2875 for location and registration.
Belly Dancing – Sept. 18 – Oct. 23, Mondays, Council Chambers. $30. fee; registration at Town Hall through Sept. 13.
Tai-Chi – Advanced class, Thursday, 10-11 a.m. beginning Sept. 21; Beginner class, Friday, 10-11 a.m. beginning Sept. 22. Each class runs for eight weeks and is held in the Council Chambers. Registration at Town Hall, space is limited. Fee $40.
There are more activities including trips to play Bingo and Fall Foliage trips, among the offerings.
