Bonny Eagle High School welcomed more than 300 new students on the first day of school, Thursday, Aug. 31.
The first day is reserved for incoming freshman who participate in activities, go through schedules, have a picnic lunch, and visit classrooms.
The class of 2010 worked on team-building activities, reviewed the rules of the high school and did a scavenger hunt to learn about where things are located throughout the school. The new students visited an activities fair to learn about the clubs and activities available to Bonny Eagle High School students.
Several seniors acted as mentors, helping the new students. The mentors gave tours of the school to small freshman groups, ate lunch with freshman, and met with them in their Freshman Focus classes and home room. They all wore red T-shirts with “Student Mentor” on the back so that they stood out from the rest of the large, 320 member freshman group.
Seniors who were chosen to be student mentors include: Silas Jordan, Joann Gorham, Casey Lovejoy, Allen Cox, Carrie Breiding, Sarah Violette, Stephanie Pomerleau, Jamie Franck, Brian McLaughlin, Ann Wedge, Desirae Hill, Stephanie Yum, Joseph Bailey, Tessa Welch, Bobby Dedovic, Crystal Stack, Jennifer Weeman, Doug Hitchcox, Jen Vincent, Emma Fitzpatrick, Becky Bartlett, Alison Davis, Justin Adams, Katherine Way, Bethany Simon, Tanya Therrien, Kaitlin Williams, Alex Truslow, Lyndie Libby, Eric Laveault, Tim Dupre, and Shannon Piecuch.
