This month, apple orchards all over Cumberland County will welcome visitors. Many orchards offer pick your own apples and other special family events.

• Douglas Hill Orchard

Where: Orchard Road in Sebago, near Douglas Mountain

What: Enjoy panoramic White Mountain views while picking your own apples, pears and pumpkins. Pre-picked apples, pumpkins, gourds and cider are also available. Groups are welcome.

• Five Fields Farm

What: Seven varieties of fruit ready-picked and pick your own. Cider, and other fall crops such as pumpkins and honey area also available. Also, cross-country skiing in winter.

What: Many apple varieties, which you can pick or buy fresh-picked. Also, cider, vegetables, pumpkins, squash and ornamentals are available.

When: Open Sept. 10 through Halloween, Saturday, Sunday and holidays, 9 a.m. -6 p.m.

• Moulton Orchards

Where: Route 35 in Standish

What: A choice of apple varieties, old-fashioned and new, including Red Gravenstein, McIntosh, Cortland, Macoun and Northern Spy. Pure sweet cider also available in season with no preservatives.
