Thomas the Tank Engine is rolling into Portland for the “Day Out With Thomas 2006: Come Ride The Rails Tour.”
The event, which takes place Aug. 18-20 and Aug. 25-27, will be hosted by Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad, at 58 Fore St. in Portland.
This fun-filled family festival offers preschoolers and their families the opportunity to take a 25-minute ride with Thomas the Tank Engine and is sure to engineer miles of smiles for every guest.
Thomas the Tank Engine, star of “Thomas & Friends,” broadcast weekly on PBS Kids, will be riding the rails across the country to visit all of his fans. This limited-engagement features a variety of Thomas & Friends themed entertainment for the entire family.
The festival features the following:
• a chance to meet and take a photo with Sir Topham Hatt;
• Thomas & Friends Imagination Station; featuring stamps, temporary tattoos, hands-on arts and crafts activities, coloring sheets and engineer certificates;
• storytelling;
• video viewing; and
• live music
The Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad will also offer performances by Abracadabra Productions and a petting zoo.
Trains will depart every hour, rain or shine, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. Tickets are $16 for ages 2 and up.
