The Raymond-Casco Historical Society recently held their July meeting at the Raymond Safety Building.
Special guests attending were Zeena and Skip Watkins and Gilbert Avery. Speaker for the evening was Al Morrison, who showed slides of Raymond from the Carol Hartley Collection, which were donated to RCHS by her husband James. Plans are underway to show sides of Casco in the fall.
Casco’s 1849 one-room schoolhouse, located behind the Casco Library, will be open to the public on Saturday, July 29 from 10 a.m. till noon and 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Members of the Raymond-Casco Historical Society will be available to give tours and answer your questions. Phil Cole will have his historical steam engine on display on the back lawn of the schoolhouse.
A potluck picnic on Hacker Hill, Casco is planned for the Society’s Aug. 21 meeting. For more information about the Society’s log on Raymond or Casco town Web sites or call President Joseph Webber at 232-2392.
