Meeting
The annual meeting of the Smith Cemetery Association will be Aug. 2. The meeting will be held at the Windham Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Anyone with family connections to the cemetery is welcomed.
Supper
There will be a public ham and bean supper Saturday, Aug. 12 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Windham Hill Church, 140 Windham Center Road. The menu includes ham and hot dogs, three varieties of baked beans, potato salad, tossed salad, macaroni and cheese, brown bread and biscuits, homemade pies, coffee, tea and punch. The donation is $6 for adults and $2.50 for children 12 and under.
Birthday
Wes Mason, Varney Mill Road, celebrated his 92nd birthday July 27. His wife, Beulah, made him a raspberry pie he wanted. There was a quiet celebration.
Anniversary
Phil and Cora Moody celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary July 27. They took a trip to their cottage on Long Island to enjoy a lobster dinner and the sea breeze.
Reminder
You only have until July 31 to enjoy the artwork of Windham artist Thomas K. Merriam on display at the Windham Public Library. His pieces deal with wildlife, there are watercolor and acrylic pieces on display. Please stop by to see this wonderful exhibit.
Windham Heritage Day
Saturday, Aug. 12, will be Windham Heritage Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Parson Smith House Committee of the Windham Historical Society. Harmon”s Company of Snowshoe Men, a famed militia re-enactment group, will re-enact the Stephen Manchester-Chief Polin Battle of 1756. This is the 250th anniversary of the battle. Advance tickets can be purchased at Corsetti’s Market for $18, the cost of tickets the day of the event is $20. There will be several other events, including many historical events. Please try to attend and support this goup.
Reunion
The Windham High School class of 1945 held a class reunion July 15 at their classmates’ Wayne and Kathleen Rogers home on Little Sebago Lake. Classmates
attending were: Ira and Betty Wyman, Kermit and Theresa Hodgdon, Glenn Libby, Ramona Moore, Sylvia Joyce and Marilyn Worrey all of Windham and Donna Ambler of Sanford. Guests were Perley and Bernie Jordan of Windham. Those who couldn’t attend were: Shirley Atkinson of Westbrook, Rosanna Suflinsky of Michigan, Marilyn Gomperts of Florida and Priscilla Mathias of California.
Reunion
There will be an informal reunion of the Windham High School class of 1964 on July 29 at the home of Gary Plummer, 248 Gray Road. The party will begin at 6 p.m. and members of Windham High School classes between 1960 and 1968 are also invited.
