The Stephen W. Manchester Post 62 of the American Legion has received a much-needed facelift. With the help of $50,000 from the Cornelia Warren Foundation, along with another $18,000 in donations from the community, the post, located right next to Riverbank Park, looks brand new.
Instead of worn-looking siding and crumbling wooden front steps, the Legion now has clean, pale-yellow vinyl siding as well as new front steps. The building also has a new set of front doors, as well as memorial windows bought by people as tributes to veterans.
Legion member Bob Barton said all the outside work is done and only bathroom and foyer work on the first floor remain in this round of renovations. He said the foyer and bathroom would be done soon.
Westbrookâs Steven W. Manchester Post 62 American Legion building is sporting a new look.
