The Naples Public Library’s annual summer art sale is scheduled for this coming Saturday, July 15 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the library.
This year’s sale features more than 100 original watercolor paintings as well as some prints. The small matted original paintings are priced at $10 each. The larger paintings will be individually priced up to $45.
Concurrently with the art sale, the library is holding its annual Yard Sale on Saturday, July 15 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. This one-day event is always very popular and has become an important fund-raiser for the library.
The library welcomes donations of “yard sale-type” items for the sale. This is the perfect time to clean out your garage or basement and help the library at the same time. You may drop off your donations at the library on Friday, July 14 anytime between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Unfortunately, the library is unable to take clothing donations.
For more information on this or any other library activity, call the library at 693-6841 or visit www.naples.lib.me.us.
Chair caning
The library will be offering free chair caning classes beginning in July. Four classes will be offered on consecutive Tuesday mornings ending Aug. 1.
The classes will be taught by Ed Schaaf, a Bridgton resident with 25 years experience teaching chair caning.
Participants are asked to bring their own project to work on. Schaaf will teach caning, rush, splint or shaker tape depending on the individual projects. The classes are free but participants will have to purchase their own supplies (generally around $20 depending on the complexity of the project).
Class size is very limited and registration is required.
