For the third year in a row, the Sebago Lake Rotary Club will host its annual Poker Run on the water on Saturday, July 22.
This competition of wit and boating skill sends competitors on a treasure hunt across the lake in search of chips used later in a poker showdown.
The Poker Run will kick off at noon with performance boats leading a “Thunder Run” parade out of Jordan Bay. The high-speed boats will then join other competitors in search of “card boats.” Posted clues along the shore will indicate where these “card boats” are located throughout the lake. but instead of handing out playing cards this year, these card boats will now give out poker chips to be later redeemed for playing cards.
During the “Boathouse Brew Party” after the run, the competitors will play best hand in a five-card-draw poker tournament. The winner of the poker showdown will take home a pot of $1,000.
Registration for the Poker Run is now open online at www.sebagolakepokerparty.com. The fee is $60 per boat for two five-card poker hands. Starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 21, boaters can register at Panther Run Marina in Raymond.
All are invited to attend the “Boathouse Brew Party” after the run with admission at $20 in advance or $25 at the door. The party will feature music by several jazz guitarists and the best in local beer from seven greater Portland microbreweries.
Event proceeds will go to benefit Camp Sunshine in Casco, the Windham Education Foundation, Casco and Naples Fire/Rescue departments, the Sebago Lake Rotary Permanent Fund for college scholarships and the Rotary Foundation.
