Editor,

I feel that President Bush has a clear plan for victory in Iraq beginning with the training of Iraqi forces so they can defend their country and lead in the fight to clear out terrorists with U.S. troops in a supporting role.

Every day Iraqis are taking more control of the situation on the ground as is noted in the bringing to justice many of the terrorists, leadership. Leaving Iraq would send a dangerous signal to our enemies that we get discouraged and retreat when public opinion is influenced by terrorist acts.

Some of the recent articles and actions by the media, newspapers and legislators would have been labeled “treasonous” and “giving aid and comfort to the enemy” in the United States I grew up in and loved. In those days people understood that when an enemy threatened to kill you and everyone in your country, that enemy had to be vigorously opposed and dealt with. Whatever means, resources, and weapons we had available, were used against such vicious enemies as the ones we now face. Today many folks make excuses for the chilling beheadings, rapes, bombings and torture of innocents by these criminals.

Make no mistake, they are not insurgents or freedom fighters; they are those who deny everyone the rights they hide behind when captured or confronted, and their manuals declare their determination to destroy us and how to use our way of life to accomplish this.

In the history of our country we never allowed our enemies access to all the information necessary to undermine and destroy us under the banner of “the public’s right to know.”

President Bush has a definitive strategy to win this war on terror and we should support his plan and give him the tools needed to deny the enemy and anyone who would unwittingly or willingly supply them with advance information of our plans and tactics in this war in which we are now engaged.
