The Westbrook Police Department is warning all residents about a possible telephone scam.

Police said in the last several days, they have had reports of residents receiving a call from a man saying he was calling on behalf of the Westbrook Police Department and he was looking to raise money for a local athletic club. Police said a caller ID system did not identify the man’s number, and he did not give his name or say what club he was raising money for.

Police warned residents who receive such a call to hang up and report the incident to the Westbrook police at 854-0644.
