Matthew Sherburne, of Windham, will receive a $20,000 scholarship as one of the 13 scholarship recipients from the Larry C. and Lee Ann Glasscock Scholarship Fund, a fund of the Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF).
The fund awards scholarships for dependents of WellPoint, Inc. associates nationwide who will be first generation college graduates. Matthew is the son of associate Joyce Sherburne and will be attending Bates College.
A total of $220,000 in scholarship funds will be awarded in 2006. Larry C. Glasscock, chairman president and CEO of WellPoint, Inc., and his wife, Lee, established the fund with a donation of $1 million in December 2003. Since its inception, the Larry C. and Lee Ann Glasscock Scholarship Fund has awarded a total of $610,000 in scholarships to 35 young adults. This is the third year for the scholarship program.
