July 1: Meet a Live Eagle at Maine Wildlife Park: Join Maine Wildlife Park staffer Adam Farrington and immature bald eagle “Lawrence” for an informative program about eagles in Maine. Although this eagle does not have the white head and tail of a 4 yr old adult bird, he is impressive to see and photograph up close! FMI 287-3303.

July 3: American Red Cross bus blood drive at Point Sebago in Casco 12-5 p.m.

July 7: From 4:30 to 6 p.m., Christ Chapel on Northern Pines Road in Raymond is holding a community meal free of charge. Food will be served continually and includes Shepherd’s Pie, rolls and desserts. FMI 655-5058.

July 8: Italian benefit dinner at Faith Lutheran Church at 988 Roosevelt Trail in Windham. Strawberry Shortcake for dessert. 5 to 6:30 p.m. $6 adults, $3 children 12 and under. July 8: The Knights of Columbus, Council 10020, is holding a public supper from 5-6 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church on route 302 in North Windham. Menu includes Chicken Cordon Bleu, potatoes, peas, cranberry sauce, desserts, coffee, punch, milk. Cost is $ 7 for adults and $3 for children 12 & under.

July 8: Creatures of the Night Hike at Maine Wildlife Park: 8-10 p.m. Learn what our wildlife does at night by the light of an almost-full moon and your flashlight. Special exhibits. Regular admission fee. (Cancelled if raining) Nature Store/Snack Shack will be open! FMI 287-3303.

July 10-14: The Rufus Porter Museum, located in Bridgton, Maine, holds the first annual Cultural Heritage Series in Bridgton. Classes offered include painting floor cloths, Moses Eaton stenciling, Rufus Porter style wall mural painting, understanding furniture, wood molding planes, folk painting, wool dyeing, 19th C basketry, beginning tatting, making herbal wreaths and early American iron. There will also be an antique appraisal on Tuesday afternoon and demonstrations of 19th Century crafts on Thursday afternoon.

July 12: Bad bugs in your kitchen can make you sick. Karen Chagnon will show you where these microorganisms like to live and how to keep them from making you sick. July 15: Streaked Mountain Wood Carvers at Maine Wildlife Park: a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching, preserving and promoting the art of woodcarving. Several carvers will display a variety of carving methods, and will include waterfowl, songbirds, raptors, fish, bear & moose. There will be hands-on SOAP CARVING for the kids! FMI 287-3303.

July 16: Raymond Public Library’s largest annual fund raising event, the Annual Book Sale, begins at 9 a.m. Donations of new and gently used books, videos, DVDs, audio books and puzzles can be made.
