Buxton inviting firefighters to muster
Buxton Fire Chief Jeff Grinnell is inviting area fire departments to participate in a firefighters’ muster, parade and a chicken barbecue during the Buxton Community Day on Saturday, July 22.
The firefighters’ muster will be from 9 a.m. to noon at Weymouth Park at the intersection of routes 202 and 112. Besides bragging rights, awards will be given for first, second and third places in several events addition to an overall award winner.
Area fire departments are also invited to participate in the parade with vintage or new firefighting equipment. The parade will form up at 11:30 a.m. on the Salmon Falls Road.
A boot drive will continue throughout the day and a chicken barbecue will be from 5-7 p.m. The barbecue will benefit the Korean War Memorial fund in Buxton.

Visit Hub and do lunch at Cheers
Buxton Recreation Director Chris Barstow said a day trip via bus to Boston would depart Buxton Town Hall at 7 a.m. on Thursday, June 29.
The trip includes an 80-minute “Duck Tour” of the historic city besides visiting Faneuil Hall for shopping and lunch at Cheers. Dining at an exact replica of the set from the show “Cheers,” the menu includes a choice of fish and chips, Cheers burger, barbecue chicken sandwich (all served with fries) or pasta primavera and a choice of soft drinks.

Summer fun discount passes
Residents can now get Funtown/Splashtown combination passes for 25 percent off the face value of the regular admission price through Buxton Recreation.
Passes are good for two Grand Prix Racer rides and unlimited use of all other rides, slides and pools. Residents can affordably plan their family’s next trip to the amusement park through this new program. For more information, call 929-8381.
Time for Tots – free program
Time for Tots is a chance for infants and toddlers to play and for parents to socialize at 3 p.m. on Wednesday in the gym at Hanson Elementary School in Buxton Center.
Toys and games are provided for the children. The recreation staff will provide fun activities, arts and crafts and games that will delight all ages. Those participating attending can take snacks and beverages. Everyone is invited to join the fun in this free program.
