Barbara Strout, Windham Center Road, has returned home after spending six days in Texas. She attended her granddaughter Heather Jean Strout’s graduation from the University of Austin, where she received her Master’s Degree.
Visits
Liz and Clarence Wisecup’s daughter-in-law, Emily Wisecup, of Imperial Beach, California, recently spent a week with them. Her husband, Michael Wisecup, is serving in the military.
Historical Society
On Monday, June 26, Jonathan Miele will present a program at the Windham Historical Society on “Changes in the Performing Art in my lifetime.” The public is welcome and there is no fee. The program will be held at 7 p.m. at the Society’s headquarters, 234 Windham Center Road.
Jonathan Miele is co-director (with his wife) of Maine State Ballet. Miele started dancing at the Dorothy Mason School of Dance here in Maine, which is now MSSPA. After a brief training at Boston Ballet School, Jonathan went to New York City where he had a successful career on Broadway dancing with such notable stars as Carl Channing, Jane Powell, Bernadette Peters, Gower Champion Robert Preston. Miele personally trained most of our current tap and jazz teachers. His exuberant style of dance has made him a great favorite among students who want to experience the excitement of big, Broadway-style choreography.
Graduation
Jennifer Millett recently graduated Cum Laude from Bryant College in Smithfield, Rhode Island with a dergree in Marketing. Attending the graduation were her father, Harold Millett, grandmother Barbara Millett, grandmother Barbara Ferentz, Laura Libby, her mother and step father Charles and Barbara Skehan and Jennifer’s friend John Delorie.
Graduation Party
Tracey and Steve Chambers, Baker Mountain Road, hosted a graduation party June 17 for their daughter, Megan Maley. Megan graduated from Westbrook High School on June 14. The party was attended by many family members and friends.
Birthday
Rhonda Forbes, Ward Road, celebrated her birthday June 21. She spent the day with her mother and sister at the ocean. Her husband, Norman, took her out to dinner in the evening.
Surprise Visit
Airman 1st Class Justin Levesque surprised his parents, Don and Colleen Levesque, of Varney Mill Road, with a visit in April. He came home for a while before being deployed to Diego Garcia. Justin is now serving in the Middle East.
