This is the Gingerbread School, an imaginative remodelling job which recreated the Newhall School in Windham about 30 years ago. The core of the building remains and is now used for private dwelling. The original building was constructed about 1926 on the same site where another school in the district referred to as Gambo, was built. The “school at Gambo” was the second school built in Windham, back in the 1700s and had been used as a place for town meetings. This area, now called Newhall, is the third oldest area of the town which began on lower River Road and progressed through Little Falls and up the Presumpscot River to Newhall.
