In 1947, Day’s Jewelry Store, pictured at left, opened in Westbrook at 866 Main St., on the corner of Carpenter Street. The Marshall Studio occupied the second floor.

The building to the left housed Hood’s Drug Store on the first floor, the Venezia CafA?© on the second floor and a third floor apartment.

Hood’s Drug Store was also known as Welch’s Pharmacy when H. Leroy Welch owned and operated the business. Paul Albert bought the business and merged it with his Albert Pharmacy stores. Day’s took over the space for their TV and appliance section.

Both buildings were demolished under Urban Renewal and the site is occupied by a one-story building which houses several businesses.
