During the rain shortened final week, the Eagles defeated the Lions, 6-4, to clinch first place. Matt Moody, Chandler Todd and Adam Begos combined for a four hitter. Offensively, the Eagles were led by Moody who had three hits. Brad Perry led the way for the Lions with two hits including a towering home run.

Kiwanis ended up in second place as they edged Prompto, 6-3. In third place it was Tickets Unlimited, who continued their hot hitting against Dairy Queen on Monday, defeating them, 17-3.

Andrew McCarthy, Mike Pena and Brandon Steele had three hits each, while Blake Toth had two hits for Tickets. Seven other players for Tickets also got hits. Brandon Steele had the big hit of the game: a towering home run to left field. James Doyle made pitching debut for Dairy Queen, doing a fine job.

In addition, it was Sappi topping Phoenix Welding, 9-8, in an exciting game to close out the regular season.

The Eagles blew open a close game and went on to roll over the Lions, 13-3, in their first playoff game. The Lions got on the board twice in the first inning with big hits by Will Batherson and Ryan Chute.

The Eagles, trailing 2-0 in the third, scored three times with two outs, the big blows coming from Matt Moody, with a two-run triple, and an RBI base hit by Adam Begos. Although the Lions tied it up at three apiece, the Eagles scored four times in the fourth and six times in the fifth to seal the victory.

In a very exciting game, Sappi held on to defeat Phoenix Welding, 3-2, behind Trevor Bates, who pitched six strong innings to pick up the win. Brent Martin pitched three strong innings for PW, shutting out Sappi through the first three innings. Phoenix Welding put two men on in the sixth inning, but Bates pitched out of the jam to seal the victory.

In another close game, Kiwanis defeated the Dairy Queen, 7-4, but the game was even closer then the score indicates. Kiwanis held a slim lead, 4-3, late in the game, when they scored three times to pull away from the determined Dairy Queen team.

In the last game of the first day of the double elimination playoffs, it was Tickets Unlimited handling Prompto by a final score of 8-1.

The double-elimination playoffs continue this week at the Warren Little League Complex, with games beginning at 5:30 pm.
