Dear friends in Maine,

I received a letter from Olympia Snowe today. She was responding to an e-mail I sent her, urging her to let our oil companies loose, so we can get rid of our dependency on foreign oil and all the entanglements.
She did not address this, but rather informed me about the authorship of her renewable energy plan. This eventually became the Energy Policy Act of 2005, H.R.6. with many alterations. She was pleased to inform me that she and 73 other senators agreed to release $2 billion of our money for “renewable energy research”.
Sadly, our President signed it into being Aug. 8, 2005. It is apparent that 74 percent of our Senate cannot handle money properly. This $2 billion over a 3-year period comes to over $1.8 million a day folks. All for nothing. If the 74 irresponsible senators let the oil companies loose and let private energy companies do their job, this $2 billion never would have happened. I am so disgusted with these supposed “leaders”. They are leading us to ruin.
Feel free to pass it along to others in Maine.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. I pray that our God will rise up new leaders among us to win these coming elections.

Dear Senator Snowe,
I just opened the letter you sent me dated May 18, 2006. It was in response to my email concerning our dependence on foreign oil. My urging was to let our oil companies go get the oil out of our ground and waters. Your letter did not address the problem. What you did tell me was how pleased you were that $2 billion of our money is going to renewable research over 3 years. That comes to over $1.8 million dollars a day! You and your other 73 irresponsible senators along with our President are giving away $1.8 million a day for this insanity when all you had to do is let our oil companies do what they already do, that is, get the oil. Let the private businesses do their own research. Our tax dollars are not meant for this. I can’t believe you think this is a great idea. You are way out of line.
I hope the news of this reaching the rest of the citizenry of Maine will help them in their decision on voting day. You must be defeated. No one can afford you.
Sincerely Yours,
Al Liberio
