On Saturday, May 27 Morgan Helena Weimer from Naples graduated from Carrabassett Valley Academy. The ceremony for the 24 members of the class of 2006 was held at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain at 10 a.m. in the Richard Bell Chapel.
Wiemer attended CVA for one year participating in soccer, alpine ski racing, and cross country running. While at CVA she traveled and competed with the alpine ski racing team throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.
According to Wiemer, “CVA has made me stronger academically and athletically. During my one year at CVA I have learned how to manage my time and work load while balancing my athletic schedule. I am definitely ready for college and all that lies ahead.”
According to Carrabassett Valley Academy Headmaster John Ritzo, “Morgan has been an excellent student and citizen earning academic high honors, the Sportsmanship Award for Alpine Women, and the Chemistry and Calculus Awards. Her contribution in the classroom and on the mountain has been exceptional.”
Prior to enrolling at Carrabassett Valley Academy for her senior year Wiemer attended Freeport schools. She began skiing for Freeport Middle School and later helped Freeport High School win state championships her sophomore and junior year. She skied on the Maine State All Star Team in Eastern Regionals her sophomore and junior year as well. She raced United States Skiing Association for the Shawnee Peak Race Team from 2004 to 2006.
Wiemer, who plans to attend St. Lawrence University in the fall is the daughter of Scott Wiemer of Freeport and Patty Raitto of Naples.
