In 1982, four nurses rode 100 miles through the White Mountains of New Hampshire to honor the courage and strength of their patient, Audrey Prouty, in her fight against cancer.
On July 8, more than 2,000 people are expected to take part in the 25th Annual Prouty Bike Ride & Challenge Walk, celebrating and supporting the courage of cancer patients and survivors everywhere. The event raises money for cancer research and patient services at Dartmouth’s Norris Cotton Cancer Center.
Last year, The Prouty raised a record-breaking $769,000. This year’s goal is one million dollars. The event draws support from dozens of local and regional businesses, hundreds of volunteers and thousands of participants who come to make a difference in the fight against cancer.
Over the years, The Prouty has raised more than $3 million dollars to fund world-class research, state-of-the-art equipment, education programs and clinical trials that help save lives of cancer patients all over the world.
NorrisCotton Cancer Center is one of only 39 Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the country as designated by the National Cancer Institute, and has been consistently named one of the top cancer facilities in the country by U.S. News & World Report.
