Have you ever thought about all that stuff floating in the Presumpscot River? Well, that “stuff” is hurting our environment, and badly if I do say so myself. We’ve already cleaned a lot of the river but there’s still a lot more to do. Plus, we have just released trout into Millbrook, which our team, at Wescott Junior High School has been raising as part of our curriculum!

The point is that years ago the Presumpscot River was beautiful, there weren’t any tires or trash floating around. I don’t mean to sound harsh, but we’ve practically destroyed our river, even today, there are shopping carts on the bottom of the river! It is nauseating.

After all, would you want your kids swimming in the Presumpscot River if you knew that people are using it for a trashcan? What if people just threw trash into your swimming pool? How would you feel? Would you want your pool or bathtub to be used as a public trash deposit site? I know for sure, that I don’t.

The next time you see a piece of trash, do us all a favor and pick it up so that it doesn’t pollute the Presumpscot.

Remember, just that much counts!
