Did the arrest last week of two Windham youth on drug trafficking charges surprise you?
David Patterson, 44, Windham
“Yes, and no. I think we’re desensitized because we see so much of it on the news. But it’s a shock when you hear of it in your own town. I think we often feel it’s happening somewhere else.”
Phil Reynard, 50s, Bridgton
“No, it didn’t surprise me. I know these things are happening around the area. People who are sheltered might be surprised, but most people won’t be surprised.”
Peter Clement, 17, Gray
“I wasn’t surprised because drugs in this state are pretty bad actually. But I was surprised they (allegedly) had guns and so many drugs and a list of people. Sounds pretty organized.”
Juanita Fernandex, 46, Buxton
“Not anymore, unfortunately. Today, things are readily available for kids to get in trouble. I’m an art teacher and it seems a lot of the extracurricular programs are being cut. It’s sad when they take the programs away because the kids love it and they are really focused. Makes you wonder if they’re desperate for something to do and these negative things are too readily available.”
Christina Robertson, 79, Casco
“Yes I was – to the extent of it. Thankfully, I had my children before this period.”
Ronald Hann III, 20, Naples
“No! There are a lot of things underneath the covers that people don’t know about. And they don’t want to know about it. The general public doesn’t want to know what’s going on because they don’t want to know it’s true. You’d be surprised if you knew what was going on.”
