The Scarborough Rotary Club has awarded scholarships for four Scarborough High School seniors.

Tyler Carr, the son of Jon and Kathie Carr of Cliff Street, will be attending Bentley College in Waltham, Mass., studying economics and finance. Carr is vice president of the Scarborough High School student council and he was also a member of the Scarborough High boys state championship soccer team.

Christopher McCormick, the son of Kevin and Jennifer McCormick of Park Avenue, will be attending Stonehill College in Easton, Mass. McCormick was very active in both the concert and jazz bands and he was also a member of the National Honor Society.

Darcy Mitchell is the daughter of Patricia G. Mitchell of Minuteman Drive, and will be attending Colby-Sawyer College in New London, N.H., majoring in psychology and communications. Mitchell was captain of the cheerleading squad and was very involved in community work in the area. Her goal is to become a middle school guidance counselor in order to help shape children at this critical stage in their lives.

Jessica “Jesse” Schoppee is the daughter of David and Juli Schoppee of Church Street, and will be attending Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Mass., majoring in middle school education. Schoppee has been an outstanding athlete and leader. She was a very active participant in field hockey, varsity basketball and outdoor track for four years. Schoppee was a leader that participated in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Conference and spent time helping to interview potential Rotary Youth Leadership Awards students.

All four of these students will receive a $1,500 scholarship from the Scarborough Rotary Club. The Scholarship Committee Chairman John Messer acting for the other committee members Guy Gledhill and Harry Page awarded the scholarships.
