Burnham a Loyola grad
John M. Burnham, formerly of Westbrook, graduated from Loyola University in Chicago on May 19 with bachelor’s degrees in both fine arts and music and women’s studies.
He is the son of Michael Burnham and Colleen (Curran) Burnham.
Burnham was cello soloist for the baccalaureate celebration. He attended schools in Westbrook and Waterville and is a 2002 graduate of Cheverus High School in Portland.
Attending the commencement exercises in Chicago were his mother and Dennis Harrington of Oakland; his father and Kent Hart of Ashville, N.C.; a sister, Beth Burnham of Wakenaam Island, Guyana, South America, where she is serving in the Peace Corps; and Burnham’s grandparents, Philip and Nancy Curran of Duck Pond Road.
Dahms graduates cum laude
Eric Dahms graduated cum laude from Bentley College in Waltham, Mass., on May 20.
Dahms is the son of Larry and Maureen Dahms.
He has been hired at a marketing firm in Newton, Mass.
Gray awarded research fellowship
Bowdoin College in Brunswick recently awarded Matthew T. Gray of one of 23 Freeman Fellowships for student research in Asia.
The fellowships are awarded to Bowdoin students to encourage travel and research in Asia. They are intended to increase understanding and awareness of Asia among students.
Post to install officers
The Stephen W. Manchester Post 62 of the American Legion will install its officers in a meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, at its headquarters at 17 Dunn St.
Art on display at church
Local artists will exhibit their works in a non-juried art exhibit at Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church, 810 Main St.
An opening reception will be 1-3 p.m. on Friday June 2. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 3. Coffee and muffins will be available for donations.
Hello neighbors
Youth from Mission Possible Teen Center were entertained last week at a get together with their neighbors at Presumpscot Commons on Main Street.
The teens joined residents for hors d’oeuvres, punch and a cake in the community room. “It’s an intergenerational party,” said Evelyn Orman, the wife of Cliff Orman, president of the Presumpscot Commons residents’ council.
