The First Annual Chaffin Pond Fishing Derby, sponsored by Windham Parks and Recreation, will be held Saturday, May 20 at Chaffin Pond Preserve from 9 a.m. to noon.

The derby is for boys and girls aged 14 and under, who must be accompanied by a parent or adult. Prizes for smallest and biggest fish in each age category. Limit four fish per participant.

Only 100 entries are available, with a $5 entry fee per participant, and the deadline is Friday, May 19 at Parks and Recreation. The event is supported by the Portland Water District and The Outpost in Windham.

Since parking will not be allowed at Chaffin Pond, free round trip shuttle service will be provided from the Manchester School parking lot. The shuttle begins at 8:30 a.m. and runs until 12:30 p.m.

Bait available for a minimum fee. Bring your own fishing gear. Don’t forget a water bottle and sunscreen and bug spray.
