A former Gorham tax clerk will face an arraignment hearing next month in Superior Court in Portland.
An arraignment hearing has been set for 11 a.m. on June 6 for Laura Anderson, 32, of Arundel. Anderson was indicted earlier this month by a Cumberland County grand jury on charges of theft and aggravated forgery.
Anderson was fired on April 27 by the town of Gorham following a town investigation. According to the termination letter, the town’s investigation concluded that Anderson had improperly processed 75 transactions and the letter also said she had stolen money from the town.
Anderson had worked for Gorham as a motor vehicle agent, assistant tax collector and customer service clerk. She was hired by the town of Gorham in July 2002.
