Police are investigating a robbery at Art’s Variety on Spring Street on May 11 where store owner Art Agazarian was held up by a man who may have had a gun.

Police Chief Paul McCarthy said police received the call a little after 10 p.m. last Thursday. He said, according to Agazarian, a male entered the store and demanded money from the register, holding one hand in his pocket, where there was a bulge that Agazarian thought could have been a gun.

The man was about 5 foot 7 inches tall with a slight build, said McCarthy. He was wearing jeans, a dark sweatshirt, light or white sneakers, a gray mask and sunglasses. He said Agazarian told him the man spoke in low tones and Agazarian had to ask him what he wanted several times. McCarthy didn’t know how much money was stolen from the convenience store.

The case is still under investigation by the Westbrook police.
