Members of the Class of 2006, at 465 students strong, will each step forward to accept a hand-signed diploma as their name is called at the Saint Joseph’s College graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 13.
Graduates at the 10 a.m. commencement in the Alfond Center overlooking Sebago Lake will also include adult learners in the Graduate & Professional Studies distance education program.
Allison Burnell of Limington, the Class of 2006 valedictorian will address the graduates. The College will confer an honorary degree on George Weiss, who created the Say Yes to Education Foundation in 1987 with a promise to pay the full costs of college or vocational training for elementary school students in one of Philadelphia’s poorest neighborhoods. Weiss will also deliver the commencement address.
Bishop Richard Malone of the Diocese of Portland will offer the benediction at commencement.
