The Lake Region Shriners will meet at Charlie Beiggs Restaurant Tuesday, May 16 at 5 p.m. All members’ spouses are invited to attend.

Birthday

Edith Bell, River Road, celebrated her 80th birthday May 7. She celebrated quietly but received a very special gift. She received her 70-year pin from the Girl Scouts. She was a leader for 48 years and is now on the board for the Girl Scouts.

Home

Alan O’Brien has returned home after spending some time in Victoriaville, Canada. He went there wth the Maine State 4-H Judging Team to learn more about how they judge. There are four on the team, and Alan is the only one from southern Maine.

Hunter Safety

The Hunter Safety Course conducted by Phil Guimond will be held May 13 and 20 at the Windham Pubic Library from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $5 per person. You may attend if you are 10 years or older but if you are under the age of 12 you must be accompanied by an adult. You must attend both sessions. For more information, contact the Town Clerks Office before 4:30 p.m. at 892-1900.

Parson Smith House Tours

The Windham Historical Society was thrilled with the turnout on Open House Day, April 29. There were a total of 136 people who toured the house from Windham and all over the Lakes Region area. It was a beautiful day. The Society would like to thank all the people for their interest. The property is for sale and the Windham Historical Society hopes to purchase the house and 124 acres so they can maintain access to the house and grounds. There will be public access on a regular basis. The property will be used both for historical and recreational purposes.

Birthday

Dorothy Millett, Highland Cliff Road, celebrated her 93rd birthday April 24. Family members visited her at different times during the week. So, Dot celebrated all week long!

Meeting

The Rebekahs will meet May 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall on Roosevelt Trail. This will be an open meeting and members of the public are invited to attend. The program will be a memorial service for deceased members. Refreshments will consist of Red, White and Blue salads and cheese and crackers.
