This letter is in full support of Cheverus Principal John Mullen and the action he took in regard to the unfortunate incident that took place at the Cheverus High School gym/cafeteria.

I have known John and his family for many years. My family and I came in contact with him at an early age. I am happy to say that we have always had the greatest respect and admiration for this man.

Over these many years, his friends in Westbrook and others have watched John ascend to many positions of prominence in our area. He has always demonstrated a caring, thoughtful attitude. He has been a credit to his family, friends, and community.

In my opinion, his decision was correct and appropriate for these disruptive students. It is unfortunate that innocent students must suffer because of the actions of their classmates, but that is also true in adult life and certainly not the fault of Mr. Mullen.

If I were a parent of one of these students, I would insist that they issue an apology to all the people and students who were affected by these disruptive and disrespectful actions; and accept this proper decision by the principal.
