The Westbrook Music Department is sponsoring two performances of Boston Lyric Opera Company for grades 3,4, 5 and senior citizens on Friday, May 5, at Westbrook High School on Stroudwater Street.
Joanna Baker, a district music teacher, said the performances of “The Daughter of the Regiment,” a comedy opera in English, would be 9:30-10:30 a.m. and 12:15-1:15 p.m.
Senior citizens are being offered tickets at a reduced price of $3 each.
Senior citizens groups in Windham, Gorham, Portland, South Portland and Scarborough besides Westbrook have been contacted about attending. “We’re saving a block of seats for senior citizens in the noon performance,” Baker said.
This marks the second consecutive year that Boston Lyric Opera has performed in Westbrook. Baker said Westbrook elementary students sold pizza and cookie dough besides other fundraisers in sponsoring the performances.
