The Westbrook Police Department has been awarded a grant for $11,000 from the Office of Justice Programs, Department of Justice.

The money will be used to purchase a digital in-car audio and video recording system. The Westbrook police have utilized systems in the past using video tape and discovered that those systems were too susceptible to temperature and humidity extremes.

Police believe that the new digital technology has overcome those issues and will provide them with a reliable system.
