Gorham is eyeing a place in the Guinness Book of Records for wearing Groucho glasses.
During this year’s annual summer festival, Gorham residents will attempt to eclipse the current record of 1,437 for the largest gathering of people wearing Groucho Marx-style glasses. The Gorham Recreation Department has estimated that Gorham will break the record with 1,600 participants.
The attempt will take place on Sunday, July 30, in a finale for the Summer Festival. Groucho glasses will be provided. The event, sponsored by Gorham Recreation and local businesses, will include live entertainment and free prizes donated by Gorham businesses.
