Schoolhouse Arts Center’s Musical Theater Ensemble will present “How to Eat Like a Child and Other Lessons in Not Being a Grown-up” May 5 to 7 at Schoolhouse Arts Center at Sebago Lake.

This delightful musical play presents a humorous look at how to eat like a child as well as act like one. It’s great entertainment for the whole family, so, “even if you’ve grown up and lost your effervescence, it doesn’t mean you can’t have fun, it just means you need (these) lessons.”

The stars of the play, 16 children in the Musical Theater Ensemble at Schoolhouse Arts Center, range in age from 10 to 14. The crew has been working with Director Keith Halliburton and Musical Director Paul Stickney since September, attending weekly classes and rehearsals through the school year. Students from nine area communities have learned acting and improvisation techniques, scripts and blocking, voice and music, and several other aspects of putting on a musical theater production including set building and painting, costume and lighting design, and promotion, budgeting, and advertising. The ensemble was created as an opportunity for youth to experience theater from a broader perspective, giving them the opportunity to participate in every aspect of theater production
