A three-car accident backed up traffic on the turnpike just south of Westbrook just before 1 p.m. on April 17.
The accident occurred in the northbound lanes at mile 47 just before the exit to Westbrook Arterial. The Maine State Police and several fire rescue vehicles responded to the scene.
Of the three drivers, state police said only one was injured, an elderly man who was taken to Maine Medical Center and treated for minor injuries.
Traffic on both sides of the highway was slowed for a short time. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
