Red Storm pick up ice honors
Scarborough’s boys hockey team was well represented at the March 26 all-state hockey banquet in Lewiston, which was sponsored by the Maine Class A Ice Hockey Coaches Association. Local swim club offers classes
Coastal Maine Aquatics Swim Club is offering two sessions of pre-competitive classes starting April 10. Classes will be offered twice a week for four weeks. Session 1 swimmers will run Mondays and Wednesdays (4/10-5/3) or Tuesdays and Thursdays (4/11-5/4). Session 2 will run Mondays and Wednesdays (5/8-6/2) or Tuesdays and Thursdays (5/9-6/1). The fee will be $48 (plus $52 for new USA Swimming members). Space is limited. Youngsters win 2-on-2 competition
Nineteen Scarborough kids participated in the first Blacktop Basketball Kids 2-on- 2 Tournament Saturday, and a pair of fourth-graders came out on top. The competition was part of the Blacktop Basketball program run by Scarborough Youth Sports Forum, which runs through March and April at a private asphalt court off U.S. Route 1. The first place team was made up of Sam Freeman and Matt Hartl, fourth-graders at Wentworth School. Runners-up were the teams of Charlie Raybine and Mikey Caryl, also fourth-graders, and a girls duo of third-graders, Ashley Briggs and Alica Starbird.
