Naples Public Library will hold its first Annual Kite Building Contest throughout the month of April to celebrate National Kite Month. This event will kick off on Monday, April 3 at 3:30 p.m. with a kite building workshop. The workshop will be led by Kites Over New England (www.kone.org) volunteer, John Martin.

Mr. Martin has been building and flying kites for more than 20 years. He will have some material on hand to demonstrate how to build a simple kite. He will also be offering ideas for different kite styles and materials.

There will be judging and (weather-permitting) flying of kites on Saturday, Apr. 29 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There are three categories for the judging: students in grades 3 through 6, students in grades 7-12 or a family kite-building team.
