Westbrook police, in conjunction with the state fire marshal’s office, have released a list of 10 recent motor vehicle arsons in the city in the hopes that Westbrook residents may have some information to help in the investigation.
Six of the arsons occurred in various neighborhoods between September 28 and 29 and the remaining four arsons all occurred in the early morning hours of Feb. 8.
Investigators believe the same suspect committed all 10 arsons. Westbrook police also have video footage of a man they believe is the arsonist. The videos are of the suspect making a purchase at the Westbrook Cumberland Farms on Feb. 8 prior to allegedly setting four motor vehicle fires.
Westbrook Police Chief Paul McCarthy is asking anyone with information about either the car arsons or the suspect to contact Westbrook police at 854-2531 or the state fire marshal’s office arson hotline at 888-870-6162.
