The Rite Aid pharmacy at the intersection of routes 112 and 22 in Buxton was robbed on Sunday. It was the second time the store was robbed this year.
Buxton Police Officer Ken Brislin said the robber got away at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 26, with an undisclosed amount of prescription medication. Police described the suspect as a white male in his early 20s with a thin build and about 5’7″ to 5’8″ tall.
The robber approached the pharmacy and said, “give me narcotics and money,” according to the police report.
Brislin, who was the first officer to respond, said that the robber didn’t display a gun. The robber had hands in his pockets but then took both hands out.
The robber was wearing work boots, faded blue jeans, a Navy blue, hooded sweatshirt with the word “Maine” on the front. The suspect also was wearing a blue and white bandanna and mirrored sunglasses.
The suspect was seen driving away in an older model teal green, four-door Ford Taurus or a similar car. The suspect headed north on Route 22 out of Buxton towards Standish.
On Monday, Brislin said police were taking statements from witnesses and still “putting leads together.”
During a rash of robberies in the area during the winter, the Rite Aid pharmacy was robbed of OxyContin in an armed holdup in January. The robber, who showed a note asking for OxyContin, threatened that he had a gun. That suspect was described as a white male wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, white shoes and a light-colored baseball cap. It was unknown in which direction that robber left in.
The Rite Aid in Buxton was robbed last week. It is the second robbery at the store this year.
