Freedom of speech, with responsibility, is so necessary in a Democratic system. These people in our society, who rise to the occasion, have my deepest respect. It requires a certain amount of courage of conviction to do this and can be extremely traumatizing for many citizens.

I wish to express my appreciation to several people who have had the courage to do so in the American Journal of March 22. The people to whom I refer are Judy O’Hara, Fred Monsen, and especially Brendan Moran. They have demonstrated to all of us just how important this freedom is in allowing us to speak out about issues of concern.

My sincere thanks and appreciation to all of you for your courage and conviction.
