In celebration of Dr. Seuss’ 102nd birthday and Read Across America Day, Ms. Cathie Bunk’s first grade class from Edna Libby School in Standish visited The Inn at Village Square in Gorham on Friday, March 3. Seventeen first graders brought a box of books, wore their red and white Seuss hats, and read to senior citizens for 45 minutes. The seniors were very attentive and enjoyed the stories. Likewise, the students loved the attention, help with reading, and the many compliments. First graders gave each senior a Seuss bookmark and a reading sticker. In return, seniors gave the students a foam shamrock magnet. Above, Gorham’s Martha Sanborn is delighted to be read to by first grader Ashley Davis of Standish. Courtesy photo
