The Star Theater stood on Main Street at the corner of Central Street for many years. The theater closed in the early 1970s and was eventually demolished as part of the Urban Renewal Project. A new building was built on the site and is presently occupied by Martini Lane Beverage and Redemption store. The portion of Central Street between Main Street and William Clarke Drive was discontinued and that land was used for a walkway and bus shelter. A portion of the municipal parking lot occupies the rest of the land where lower Central Street once ran.

Hubert Prior Vallee, better known as Rudy Vallee once worked at the Star Theater as an usher before moving on to fame and fortune in the entertainment field.

The Star Theater was a favorite of young and old for many years and fond memories are all that remain of that old building.
