Ernest J. Bragdon was a politician from Gorham. He once ran for sheriff of Cumberland County but there is little information available about him. His campaign literature read “If you want to compromise with the saloon; if you want to give it a little longer lease of life, don’t vote for me;”

“For, if elected sheriff of Cumberland County, I shall do all in my power to faithfully, impartially and persistently endorse the prohibitionary law.”
