Aubuchon supports charity

Aubuchon Hardware has donated a percentage the store’s sales on Feb. 18 to Day One in Hollis.

Day One is an adolescent substance abuse agency.

The decision to donate $250 was employee driven. “We talked about who would be the best organization to give it to in the community,” said Jacques Goudreau, store manager, “and decided awarding this year’s proceeds from the annual fundraising event to Day One would be a great idea.”

Day One’s James C. Harrod Residential Treatment Center is the only yearlong residential substance abuse program for adolescents in Maine. “We’re so grateful for Aubuchon’s generosity,” said Paul Golding, director of development and public relations for Day One. “Many of our kids are starting over in life. Support like this makes them feel connected to and supported by the community.”

The gift was part of a company-wide effort on behalf of the family-owned Aubuchon Hardware chain, in which all 140 northeastern stores participate once each year. “We just want to help out as much as we can,” Goudreau said.
