Molly Masterton of Windham, a senior at Windham High School, has been selected to receive the 2006 Principal’s Award, Principal Deb McAfee announced today. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.
According to McAfee, Masterton is this year’s valedictorian. She has been well recognized by the faculty since her freshman year for her work in the classroom. She is a member of the Chamber Singers, the National Honor Society, the National Spanish Honor Society as vice president, the drama program and she is the vice president of her class. Masterton is also a varsity tennis player.
Masterton, McAfee and other award winners and their principals from schools around Maine will attend an honors luncheon at the Spectacular Event Center on Saturday, April 8 at 1 p.m.
The honors luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler. McGowan and Tyler were former Maine principals and executive directors of the Association.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 140 Maine public and private high schools.
