Buxton police awarded grant

The town of Buxton recently has been awarded a federal grant of $459 to buy bulletproof vests for the police.

“These Department of Justice funds will help provide essential protection to law enforcement officials in their ongoing effort to keep the people of Maine safe,” said Maine’s U.S. senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins in a joint statement. “Our police officers are more than deserving of these basic safety measures and we are pleased to see federal support in this area.”

Buxton is one of five Maine communities receiving the grants. Maine got a total of $5,893 for the bulletproof vests.
